Our Food Service Department does so much more than serve meals—they find ways to make our students feel supported, celebrated, and cared for!

From bringing some fun to lunchtime with Pizza Daze to preparing and delivering after-school snacks for our student-athletes, our food service team is always going the extra mile for our Leopard Family.

September also brought a special celebration of culture as our kitchen staff prepared pozole and colorful Jell-O in recognition of Mexican Independence Day, sharing food, heritage, and tradition with our students.

And we can’t let the month go by without recognizing Chef Brad and our incredible food service staff for the creativity, hard work, and heart they bring to our schools every single day.

School will be back in session Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Power has been restored throughout the district, and we will return to our regular school schedule tomorrow.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our students, families, and staff during today’s unexpected closure. We also want to extend a special thank you to the linemen who worked quickly to restore power and help us get back up and running.

De Queen Public Schools will dismiss early today due to the district-wide power outage. Power has not been restored, and School Drive remains completely closed due to downed power lines. Dismissal Information: 
Car riders: Parents may begin picking up students at their school’s front office now. High school students should be picked up at the Junior High office due to the School Drive closure.  
 Student drivers: Students who drive themselves are being released now. 
Bus riders: Buses will run at 9:30 AM to allow families time to make arrangements for someone to be home when students arrive. 
 Please use caution around the area and avoid School Drive. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep our students and families safe.

Crews are working to address the issue, and traffic near the high school is being redirected. Please use caution in the area and be patient as we work through the situation. Flu shot forms will be sent home with students today, Tuesday, September 8, district-wide. Extra forms will also be available in each school office.

📅 Forms are due Tuesday, September 22.

Investing in Their Future!

Thanks to the De Queen Board of Education, every DHS sophomore will receive a voucher to take one national ACT test at no cost to the student. This $13,725 investment gives our students an important opportunity to gain testing experience, identify areas for growth, and work toward scores that can open doors to college admission and scholarships.

Counselors will help students register during the first month of school. We encourage each sophomore and their family to review the available ACT dates carefully and select the date that works best with the student’s schedule. Once registered, students should prepare, arrive ready, and make the most of this valuable opportunity! #LeopardFamily #LeopardPride

As everyone gets back into the morning routine, please remember our new start time for the 2026–27 school year:

🔔 First bell: 7:50 AM
⏰ Students need to be IN CLASS by 7:55 AM
🏫 Dismissal: 3:10 PM

We know traffic will be a little busier than usual during the first week of school, so please plan accordingly and give yourself a few extra minutes for drop-off, parking, breakfast, and getting to class.

Our bus drivers play an important role in our #LeopardFamily. They help make sure our students start and end their school day safely and with a familiar, caring face.

🚌 Morning and afternoon routes with your day in between
🚌 Sick and personal leave for contracted route drivers
🚌 Incentive pay available for unused sick days
